The "open certification" scheme includes the maintenance of a web-based certification database that promises to detect counterfeit certificates. Industry safety practitioners are being told to verify the validity of any certification by getting in touch with the Safety Automation Element List (www.sael-online.com). This is the world’s most comprehensive list of functional safety and cybersecurity certifications.

Authentic certification helps process manufacturers design and implement safety instrumented systems that comply with the IEC 61511/ISA 84 functional safety standards, as required by law in some areas of the world.

Authentic certification also verifies and ensures that the product hardware and software design, the safety manual, as well as the processes used for development, testing, and quality control, comply with the requirements of the IEC 61508 international standard.

Please note it important to verify the validity of any safety certificate.
