Applied Control Solutions will be holding the ninth in a series of international conferences focused on industrial control systems cyber security issues, October 19-22, at the Bethesda Marriott 5151 Pooks Hill Road, Bethesda, MD (301) 897-9400. The draft agenda is available at www.realtimeacs.com.
Conference highlights include:
- Control system hacking demonstrations
- Discussion of cyber issues and associated IEEE standards for substation IEDs
- Telecommunications impacts on control system security
- Cyber issues with Smart Grid and renewables
- Nuclear power issues including the Regulatory Guide 5-71 and FERC 706B
- Security in the chemical, oil, gas, refining, water, and wastewater industries
- Discussion of Estonia’s nation-state cyber war experience
- Two open discussions – what are the range of cyber threats to industrial control systems (including EMP) and why failsafes appear to not to be failsafe
- Discussion of recent cyber incidents including a recent incident that killed people.
The following additional activities will be occurring in conjunction with the Conference. An initial meeting will be held the morning of October 19 in Rockville on the new ISA Nuclear Plant Cyber Security Working Group. Friday, October 23rd there will be a NIST Workshop on implementing NIST SP800-53 and NIST SP800-82 for industrial control systems at the Bethesda Marriott. Additionally, we will have two congressmen (assuming votes are not being held) who will provide evening keynotes.
