Dow Chemical Co. has chosen Siemens' S7 distributed control system for its R&D labs. Read the release:
ATLANTA, Jan. 14, 2008 - Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. today announced that the SIMATIC® PCS 7 distributed control system (DCS) has been adopted by The Dow Chemical Company's research & development department as its new standard for Laboratory Process Control applications worldwide.The announcement follows the completion of several successful test projects using the PCS 7 Box system at Dow R&D sites in Midland, Michigan.; Freeport, Texas: and Terneuzen, Netherlands. The projects were critical first steps in the process to replace Dow's aging systems with commercially available technology."Overall, the lab automation team selected PCS 7 as the preferred solution for the automation of Dow R&D laboratory systems because of the best balance between flexibility, functionality, supportability and cost-effective scalability for small reactor systems," said Clark Dressen, Dow senior R&D leader.
