Katrina, one year later...

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. Albert Schweitzer
August 31, 2006 It has been over one year now since Hurricane Katrina impacted the Gulf coast states and New Orleans with devastating results. We thank our customers for their continued confidence in us that we can deliver quality solutions in the midst of what must seem to outsiders as complete chaos. Your purchases give us purpose and direction in our daily activities and that is the best therapy we could have during these times. Our business is good and growing steadily and on a solid plan. We thank our employees for their dedication to good customer service while rebuilding their homes and their relatives' homes. We thank our newest employees who have joined our family in this past year. We thank our neighbors who are able to stay and be part of our community. We thank those firemen and policemen who stayed during the storm and after and who served with such distinction. We thank the many first responders from around the nation who waded thru the dark waters to rescue our fellow citizens. We thank our Coast Guard for performing more air rescues during Katrina than all prior rescues in its history combined. We are thankful for the many faith based volunteers who continue to help rebuild the homes and lives of our region. We are thankful for the students who have taken their vacation and spring breaks here to lend a hand with clean-up and rebuilding. We thank the nation for their continued generosity and support when it looks like some of us don't know how to express our gratitude. We thank the President for his steadfast commitment to the rebuilding of our city and the Gulf Coast. We are thankful for the tireless efforts of the men and women of the Corps of Engineers. We are thankful for the many Senators and Congressmen who have visited and returned to work on our behalf. We are thankful for those around us that continue to work tirelessly to make positive change a permanent reality. We are grateful for the citizens who have stepped forward to help our elected leaders learn how to serve for the common good rather than special interests. We are grateful for those newly elected officials who have chosen a life in public service. We are thankful for those overseas who have sent their assistance, expertise and well wishes. We thank you for continued patience with us as we learn how to improve the lot of our city, our state, and our region, this we will need in abundance in the future as we have a long, long road ahead. Above all, the outpouring of good wishes and prayers from around the world and nation garners the most profound gratitude of our company and employees. During what have been some of our darkest moments, support from our friends has fueled our will to survive and prosper. Sincerely yours, Bruce H Thompson President Thompson Equipment Company, Inc.
