Helukabel to build automation cable plant

Feb. 9, 2023
New building is planned to be completed by 2025

The Helukabel Group, a global cable system solutions provider, announced Jan. 23 that it will build a new facility in Haan, Germany, that will collectively house its robotic-dress-pack and drag-chain system subsidiaries. The new building will also serve as headquarters of Helukabel’s Rhine-Ruhr sales branch, and is planned to be completed by 2025.

Robotec Systems focuses on robotic-dress-pack solutions, and it’s been a Helukabel subsidiary since 2012, operating in Duisburg, a suburb of Duesseldorf in northwest Germany. EKD Systems, which joined Helukabel at the beginning of 2022, specializes in cable drag chains made of steel, stainless-steel and plastic. Because of the similarities in their customers and business areas, Helukabel’s corporate group is hoping for synergistic effects from moving them both to the new, convenient location to support its global sales network.

"On one hand, we’re expanding our capacity with the new building, so we can continue to grow," explains Andreas Hoppe, CFO at Helukabel, who adds it also plans to increase its onsite personnel from 70 to 150 by 2030. "On the other hand, we’re in an even better position to integrate our joint capabilities to offer ready-to-use and customized electrical connection technology solutions."

The new facility will further be supported by the cable-harnessing capabilities of Helukabel’s Sangel Systemtechnik subsidiary, and give users access to individual electrical-connection components or prepopulated, play-and-play assemblies such as pre-terminated cable assemblies, robotic dress packs, or drag chain systems.
