Ciner Glass reported May 15 that it’s started a third furnace at its Park Cam facility near Istanbul, Turkey. It began slowly heating up in May, and was scheduled to be running at full capacity by the end of the month.
The new furnace is expected to let Ciner produce 1,500 tons of glass per day, enabling delivery of 9 million bottles to consumer in Turkey and across Europe every day. This expanded capacity will let the company grow to provide 25% of the Turkish market.
"We’re thrilled to announce the successful opening of our third furnace at the Park Cam factory,” said Gokhan Cen, CEO of Ciner Glass. “This is a monumental accomplishment and positions the company perfectly to help expand our production capacity to serve the growing European glass market. I want to thank the team for their dedicated hard work in ensuring the build was delivered successfully and on time.”
Ciner has been operating in Turkey for more than 10 years, and reports that it continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. The company first acquired land in the Bozüyük Industrial Zone in 2011, opening its first production line in 2013, and completing its second line in 2015. Park Cam facility is reported to be one of the greenest in Turkey, using lighter-weight bottles in production to reduce not just its own carbon footprint but also that of Ciner’s customers and partners in Turkey and across Europe.
