Schneider Electric today unveiled a new cloud software platform for the company’s process design, simulation, training and optimization offerings.
Billed as the first process design and engineering software to be delivered as a service, SimSci Online provides access to the same simulation software as its on-premise solution, with only the requirement of an Internet connection.
As a cloud offering, SimSci Online allows for improved organizational efficiency, sustainability and connectivity, and is designed to deliver greater availability for more employees. SimSci Online charges only for usage time, which can be attractive for smaller companies that might not need constant access or an annual licensing fee.
According to Schneider, benefits of SimSci Online include:
- Increased Accessibility: Accessible anywhere and anytime with an Internet connection
- Enhanced Availability: No system maintenance requirements from the client side and highly scalable to allow for additional users on demand
- Lower Cost of Ownership: Eliminate IT maintenance overhead to ensure that the latest version is always available for company and project needs

Schneider Electric will initially roll out SimSci Online as a platform, to then enable the process design and engineering portfolio to be delivered on the cloud. The first application to be launched will be SimSci DYNSIM Online, a dynamic process simulator that enables process yield improvement and a reduction of capital investment costs. General availability of SimSci DYNSIM Online is planned for the end of 2016, with other applications to follow in 2017.
