Zhejiang Petrochemical Co., will use technology from Honeywell UOP and Honeywell Process Solutions for its new, integrated refining and petrochemical complex in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China.

Honeywell reported Feb. 14 that Zhejiang Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (ZPC) will use technology from Honeywell UOP and Honeywell Process Solutions for its new, integrated refining and petrochemical complex in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China. UOP will supply license, design, key equipment, catalysts and adsorbents, while Honeywell Process Solutions will provide process controls and automation systems. The complex will be the largest crude-to-chemicals plant in China, and it will produce petrochemicals, including aromatics used to make plastic resins, films and fibers.

Refining and petrochemical process units at ZPC's complex will be controlled by Honeywell's Experion DCS, which will integrate its process controls, safety systems and automation software into one architecture. The project includes a two-train LD Parex aromatics complex, including UOP Sulfolane, Isomar and Tatoray processes for producing 4 million metric tons per year of paraxylene, a primary ingredient in plastics.
