Flow control suppliers deliver a stream of new refinements and innovations to help users optimize their applications. Here are some of the most useful.
Ethernet/IP aids connectivity
Liquidline CM44x multi-channel, modular, four-wire transmitter has EtherNet/IP for integration with Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx. CM44’s web server allows remote views of diagnostic data, configuration and access to device parameters. Maintenance functions are performed via FieldCare asset management system, while Memosens enables CM44 and EtherNet/IP to access many parameters. Endress+Hauser 888-ENDRESS (363-7377)
Fast Response, Temperature Changes
ProSense FSD flow switches monitor 0.26-6.6 gpm or 1.32-26.4 gpm with a fast response time of 10 ms. Operating at 24 Vdc, they provide normally open DC PNP outputs. Setpoints are set with a rotating dial and locked with a set screw. Valve bodies are constructed of nickel-plated brass with 3/4- or 1-in. NPT connections. Switches have four-pin, M12 quick-disconnect and LED output indication. AutomationDirect 800-633-0405
Controlling conductivity
CDTX-111/CDTX-112 conductivity controllers are panel instruments for online monitoring of industrial process conductivity. These CE-compliant devices feature linearized data, automatic temperature compensation, no error due to cable length changes and maintenance-free cells. They’re ideal auxiliary instruments for various conductivity-sensitive processes.
USM GT400 ultrasonic flowmeter measures natural gas volumes at every stage; complies with CEESmaRT secure, cloud-based condition monitoring; and provides stability during flow perturbations with its direct-path method of six paths on three levels. The X pattern in horizontal planes enables measurement of swirl, cross-flow, asymmetry and transparent path velocity weighting. Honeywell Process Solutions 800-343-0228
Improved measurement, operations oversight
Micro Motion Model 5700 Coriolis flow transmitter was developed with Emerson’s Human Centered Design to reduce the time and expertise needed to install and secure deeper process insights. Model 5700 also provides measurement histories, and translates Coriolis measurements via time-stamped history files for process and meter health data and logs for configuration changes and alarms. All in one-liquid, gas, steam
Optiswirl 4200 vortex flowmeter measures conducting and non-conducting liquids, gases and steam. It can be used for internal monitoring of energy flows for saturated and superheated steam or hot water and heat metering applications. It’s also perfect for steam-boiler monitoring, burner consumption measurement or compressed air network monitoring, including free air delivery (FAD). Krohne (800) FLOWING (356-9464)
Small footprint, measures conductives
FEM ProcessMaster wafer magmeter is a reliable magmeter that uses a small footprint to provide a reliable measurement of conductive fluids. It’s available with an integral or remote transmitter, with FM Class I, Div. 1 or 2. This is a perfect unit for chemicals and other flows. The Tefzel liner is standard, while electrode options include Hastelloy C, tantalum and platinum. ABB 800-435-7365 www.abb.com/measurement
Accurate water anywhere
Sitrans Mag8000 water meter is flexible enough to be installed almost anywhere without sacrificing accuracy or performance. No mains power is required, and its battery provides up to 10 years of maintenance-free operation. Mag8000 is unaffected by moderate amounts of debris in the water supply, and has drinking water approvals, FM and ANSI/NSF 61, to meet highest health and safety standards. Siemens 800-365-8766
Thermal dispersion and fieldbus
Thermatel TA2 thermal dispersion mass flowmeter with Foundation fieldbus has dual-gas calibration with two unique curves; field adjustability; calibration verification to reduce process downtime and unnecessary recalibrations; internal resettable and non-resettable totalizers; strong signal at low flows and low pressures with high turndown; and ISO 17025 and NIST-traceable calibrations. Magnetrol International Inc. 630-969-4000
Air and gas accuracy
MDT500 flow measurement system measures air and gas flow rates with ±0.8% flow rate accuracy and less than 0.1 second response time. With long-term stability and no moving parts, the unit is maintenance free. MDT500 also provides a wide flow range, while maintaining accuracy with no drift over time and temperature. It also delivers best repeatability and is independent of orientation. Meriam Process Technologies 800-817-7849
Choice of mass flowtubes
Foxboro, now part of Schneider Electric, has expanded its line of Coriolis flowtubes with the introduction of the CFS25. When coupled with the CFT51 mass flow and density transmitter, CFS25 has the capability to start or finish from empty, and offers the fastest response time available. Users can realize significant savings in batching, filling or truck unloading operations. Schneider Electric 866-746-6477
