Stora Enso Oyj, Europe’s largest pulp, board and paper manufacturer, will begin using Honeywell technologies to modernize one of its key mills and help it meet rising demand for renewable packaging board. Honeywell's process automation, safety system and manufacturing optimization technologies will all be implemented in the Varkaus, Finland, mill and Honeywell hopes it can help Stora Enso Oyj meet their ambitious new goals.

Key updates to the mill include migrating the plant from its previous control system to Honeywell’s Experion® PKS (Process Knowledge System), all new Experion Process, Machinery and Drives (PMD) controllers, a Uniformance® Process History Database (PHD), Safety Manager and an OptiVision® Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
