Single-pair Ethernet and other simplifications are making wiring more efficient than ever
Cable entries add roundness, density

Murrplastik cable entry systems have added KDL/D Mono series, which provide the same benefits as KDL/D in a round frame form. They allow cables to be installed through an enclosure or other bulkhead surfaces, and let premade, terminated cables be installed without disassembling the connectors. KDP/X also allows a high density of non-terminated cables to be installed through a small space. KDL/D Mono is available in three frame sizes and KDL/D is available in four frame sizes.

Elastomer jacket, 1 million flex cycles

Xtra-Guard TPE flex cables from Alpha Wire feature a thermoplastic elastomer jacket, and offer increased ruggedness over PVC alternatives, including maximum resistance to oil, sun and flame. Cables are available with PLTC or TC rating, and can be run directly from cable tray to device, minimizing the cost and time needed for cable installation. Rated for 1 million flex cycles, Alpha Wire's continuous flex cables provide high reliability and performance in flexing applications such as manufacturing robotics and motion control.

Tool-free wiring, touch-proof connectors

MCS Maxi 832 Series lever-actuated, pluggable connectors offer tool-free, in-hand wiring solutions for 18 to 4 AWG sizes. These touch-proof connectors have high-current and voltage capacity, and feature low mating forces, yet high contact force for safe, reliable pluggable connections. They include wire-to-board and wire-to-wire configurations in two to six poles, as well as the new 832 Series mounting adapter accessory that allows wire-to-wire connections configurations to be secured to a DIN 35 rail or any flat surface.

Better jacket and bend radius

Etherline Tray Cat.7 is a tray-rated (UL PLTC) industrial Ethernet cable engineered to operate in demanding environments with a specially formulated PVC jacket and foam polyethylene insulation to maintain cable integrity. Etherline Tray Cat.7 provides maximum transfer rates up to 10 GBit/s at up to 328 feet, while its innovative design and construction provide an 8.9 mm OD that combines with its minimum stationary bend radius of 10 x cable diameter to ease installation in tight spaces.

Single-pair Ethernet simplifies reliability

DataTuff single-pair Ethernet (SPE) cables minimize the complexity of connecting and powering edge devices, while providing higher reach and bandwidth via one twisted-pair wire. With strong shielding and jacketing options, DataTuff SPE cables provide reliable, uninterrupted connectivity from remote field devices to the cloud, even in harsh environments. And, with Power over Data Line (PoDL) capability to consolidate data and power delivery, users benefit from increased uptime, process efficiency and operational profit.

Field-wireable sensor plugs

MIN series size I field-wireable plugs from Mencom provide easy plug-and-play connectivity for a range of applications that require three to six contacts. They support 5-17 millimeter cables, and are rated for 600 V at 8, 12, 15 or 18 A. Users can choose from nickel-plated brass and stainless-steel coupling nut materials, with a polyamide body in a robust, field-ready design. All MIN series field-wireable sensor plugs are IP67-rated.

Mechanically, visually keyed

Originally used solely in the automotive industry, Fakra connectors from Amphenol are versatile RF interconnects that are mechanically and visually keyed to avoid mismating, and are available in unsealed and waterproof, IP67, sealed configurations. Fakra PCB connectors are designed in vertical, right-angle or edge-mounted styles, some with panel mounting features. Their cable-mount connectors are engineered for a range of standard cable types, including RG-58 and RG-174.

Data, power with single-pair Ethernet

Instead of two or four pairs of wires, Single-Pair Ethernet cables require just one pair of wires for transmitting data and power. Their simple design and associated reduction in weight, space requirements and installation costs offer many advantages in industrial environments. Single-Pair Ethernet also enables end-to-end, economical connections of large numbers of terminal devices in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) from sensors in the field to the cloud.

Circular M8 and M12—and PCB

Circular M8 and M12 connectors include molded, device and PCB connectors. Circular Connector coding includes A, B, D, S, and T, as well as industrial communications such as fieldbus and network protocols. Circular Connector provides IP67 protection, and is built to endure chemicals, shock and vibration. Circular M8 and M12 meet the growing demand for sensor and actuators in industrial automation systems, and ensure the integrity of connections in all types of industrial environments.

Block links to in-panel PLC

Wiring a PLC inside a control panel can be a tedious task, but it can be eased by using a PLC terminal block. Its flexibility make it easier to establish electrical connections. This PLC connector terminal block uses a screw mechanism with a spring-cage terminal block, and can be directly connected to Japanese-branded PLCs. This spring mechanism reduces labor, and permits simple wire connections with both round and Y-shaped terminals. Both DIN-rail and screw mounting are supported.

180° straight or 360° angled connector

C6A RJ45 Field Plug Pro connector is designed for field assembly without needing special tools, and is available in 180° straight and 360° angled versions. It also features a robust, die-cast zinc housing and protected latch, and its compact design gives C6A RJ45 multi-port capability, while also being fully shielded. It’s suitable for Power over Ethernet (PoE, PoE plus, UPoE and 4PPoE), HDBaseT or other multimedia networks, and is also suitable for standard protocols like Profinet and EtherNet/IP.
