Western Canada Student Games March 13-16

Feb. 12, 2014

Western Canada and Washington State Instrumentation technology students to participate in Student Games at SAIT in Calgary, Alberta on weekend of March 13 – 16.

Planning for the 2014 Instrumentation Student Games to be held in Calgary on March 13 -16, is well underway, with participants from the following 6 schools having confirmed they will be sending teams: SAIT (host), NAIT (Edmonton), University of Alberta (Edmonton), SIAST (Moose Jaw), BCIT (Vancouver), and BTC (Bellingham).  Each school is sending their top four 2nd year students and one instructor/coach. The teams for the competitions will be a mix of students from each school combined to form teams as opposed to schools competing against each other.

The organizers are looking for potential sponsors to help cover the costs of hosting the visiting students throughout the weekend. Any questions can be directed to Jamie Eddy, ISA SAIT President ([email protected]) or instructor Mark Tarrant at [email protected]. In addition, as part of the Kick-off activities there will also be a table-top event on March 14 from 12:30 – 14:00 on the 3rd floor of the Johnson-Cobbe (instrumentation) building. The table-top event is expected to draw 130 IET students from SAIT, the student competitors, and other students in the MacPhail School of Energy.

The competition is free of charge and open to members of the local instrumentation community and all related disciplines to come and enjoy with more information on the event at http://isasait.ca/?p=359

This event concludes a busy week in Alberta as I will be returning from the 11th annual Oil Sands Conference will be held in Fort McMurray at Keyano College March 11- 12. Information on that event can be found at http://isaedmonton.org/2014/02/2014-oilsands-automation-conference/
