After YEARS of being prodded by me and many others, ISA has climbed on the FIRST Robotics bandwagon in a big way. This has been going on for a couple of years now, and may address several automation company CEOs' complaint that ISA isn't relevant. YAY!!! Good going, ISA!

NASCAR driver, Jennifer Jo Cobb, to appear at ISA Automation Week 2011 with ISA and FIRST® logos on her race truck

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (14 October 2011) — The International Society of Automation (ISA) announced today that NASCAR® race car driver, Jennifer Jo Cobb, will make an appearance at ISA Automation Week 2011: Technology and Solutions Event, and network with attendees in promotional appearances, participate in the event’s Mardi Gras Reception—Celebrating FIRST®, and contribute prizes to the event. Cobb also will carry the ISA and FIRST logos on her race truck at the 22 October 2011 Talladega 250 Camping World Truck Series race at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama, USA.

ISA Automation Week 2011 will take place in Mobile, Alabama, 17-20 October 2011, at the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center.

Cobb will make appearances at the event 18 and19 October during scheduled hours, in Booth 730, where she will display her race truck, sign autographs, and chat with engineers, technicians and other automation professionals. “I want to pay tribute to the professionals whose work helps to make my racing career possible,” said Cobb. “I’ll be proud to carry the logos of ISA and FIRST® on my truck during the Talladega 250.” She will also be on hand at the Mardi Gras Reception on Wednesday night at ISA Automation Week and will be awarding prizes from her company, Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing.

Cobb’s company has provided one of the grand prizes to be awarded during the Mardi Gras Reception—two pit passes to an upcoming NASCAR race along with a voucher for a hotel stay. The company has also provided racing T-shirts and a ride-along at Richard Petty Driving Experience as prizes.

Cobb began her racing career in 1991 and has finished in the top ten championship standings every season that she competed in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Lakeside and I-70 Speedways in the Kansas City, Kansas, USA area. She has worked at the Richard Petty Driving Experience, where she logged over 1,000 laps per weekend at NASCAR-sanctioned race tracks, such as Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, California Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and others for several years.

Cobb is the highest finishing female in any NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event, with a 6th place posting at Daytona earlier this year, and she is the highest finishing female driver in any of NASCAR’s points standings since 1949.  She competes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series as well.
