I AM attending this one. The Invensys OpsManage 2010 meeting this week had over 1100 attendees by itself. And of course, Rockwell's annual Automation Fair, including PSUG and SAF, will have over 12,000 attendees.

SPS/IPC/DRIVES: exhibition bookings at record level
Stuttgart / Nuremberg 21 October 2010: At a total of 90,000 sqm, the space booked at this year’s SPS/IPC/DRIVES has matched the record level set in 2008, at a time before the economic crisis. Approximately 1,300 exhibitors are set to present their products and services at this year’s event. All the latest innovations in electric automation can be seen at SPS/IPC/DRIVES. Many companies have announced product launches at the event.
To help guide visitors through the huge product range on offer at SPS/IPC/DRIVES, the halls are arranged by topic:
Halls 1, 2 and 4: Electronic Drive Technology/Motion Control and Control Technology
Hall 4A: Sensors
Hall 5: Electromechanical Systems and Peripherals and Control Technology
Hall 6: Control Technology
Hall 7: Sensors and Control Technology
Hall 7A: Sensors and Software
Halls 8, 9 and 10: Control and Interface Technology
The extensive breadth range of offers includes the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2010 special topics: “Energy Efficiency”, “Industrial Identification” and “Safety and Security”. Numerous examples from these current key topic areas will be on show at the exhibition stands as well as in the lectures which form part of the forum programme and the conference.
ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) and VDMA (German Engineering Federation) have each lent their name to and are responsible for organizing an exhibition forum, in halls 8 and 4A respectively. Contributions from exhibitors, various publishers and organizations will be heard throughout the three days of the event.
The joint stands “wireless in automation”, “Open Source meets Industry” and “AMA Center for Sensor, Measuring and Testing Technologies” will provide visitors with a brief insight into each topic. The exhibition will remain open until 7pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Plant automation, electric drives and industrial communications are the main focus of the conference which takes place alongside the exhibition.
For the first time at this year’s conference two SPS/IPC/DRIVES Young Engineer Awards will be granted. These will be awarded to the best contributions from the Automation and Drives sectors. The official prize reception will take place at the Conference Get-Together on 24 November 2010.
