If you don't vote you can't complain...

Tomorrow, as I write this, in the United States, is one of the most important days so far in the nascent 21st century-- the day we elect the President who is going to lead us through what is shaping up to be one of the most dangerous periods in our history.

The President will have for forge a consensus, not just of the government, and the Congress, but of all of the world's leaders and the populations at large in order to bring the world back from the edge of financial collapse.

And, as CBS News commentator Charles Osgood observed this morning, "the Government doesn't have any money."

Spending out of this mess is not likely to do much except raise inflation to new and exciting levels perhaps not seen since the Great Inflation of Germany in the Twentieth Century.

Taxing out of this mess is not likely to do much except continue the slide into recession.

What's the incoming President to do?

I don't know, but I do know this-- for those of you who have the right to vote in American elections, do it!

If you don't vote, don't complain.
