I talked with Pat Schweitzer and Wayne Manges, the co-chairs of SP100 about what exactly they want to achieve with respect to integration of WirelessHART into ISA100. "What I want is accommodation of WirelessHART in the first release of ISA100.11a," said Pat Schweitzer, "and complete interoperability and interchangeability by Release 2 or maybe Release 3." "What I want to achieve is accommodation of WirelessHART in the first release of ISA100.11a," Manges said, "and I want complete interchangeability by Release 2. It is no longer about 'whether' but about 'how.'" So now we will see. This is the first unambiguous statement of their intent by the co-chairs of SP100. It remains to be seen if the HCF will be willing to go along with this. It seems to the majority of people I've talked to that this is a way to go forward that will permit a single standard.
