Dinesh Paliwal's closing address was all about collaboration. He quoted retired ABB executive John Witherspoon as saying, "You will find all the real answers in the field." With the customers.
"Collaboration," Paliwal went on, "is a powerful tool only if it is a continuous process."
You need, he said:
*a real hunger for information
*to ask the real questoins
*to broaden the horizons for solutions
*an open and lasting partnership
...without straying to far from the core.
ABB, Paliwal noted, has a strong belief in sharing "our success with those who are not so fortunate." The ABB Foundation, supported by employee contributions, made over $300,000 in grants in 2006.
He concluded his remarks by reminding the ABB staff that "effective collaboration is more than sales."
