Pronounced "eemeeah" it stands for Europe-Middle East-Africa. I got here yesterday and went directly to meetings, and didn't get a chance to blog. I know that Jack Bolick, Honeywell's President, is not here, because he is undergoing chemotherapy for adult-onset Hodgkins's Lymphoma (thank God, one of the very curable cancers) and he's demanding my blog. Well, here's at you, Jack. Get well really soon. I missed the press briefing on Honeywell's new generation wireless systems...but I got a private briefing from Dave Kaufmann later...and it was much as I expected. Honeywell, like Emerson, is moving ahead in advance of standards development, and are about on the same level as far as bringing commercial products to market. Emerson appears to be shipping, at least in limited cases, while Honeywell will not be in general release until the first week in April. I had long discussions with Dave and with Dan Sheflin, Honeywell's VP of Technology, what they used to call Chief Engineer about how to move forward with standards, and I think we made progress. Then, since I'm about a whole workday out of phase with the office, here in Seville, I went home to my room and put in 8 hours "AT THE OFFICE."
