Emerson gets married to Don Bently

I received a press release from Emerson Process this morning, which sounded interesting, and was more so than usual... I received a press release from Emerson Process this morning, which sounded interesting, and was more so than usual... Emerson is pleased to announce the expansion of its vibration monitoring service through an alliance with RoMaDyn of Minden NV, engineering experts in rotating machinery. This alliance couples Emerson's worldwide Machinery Healthâ„¢ Management services capabilities with RoMaDyn's 50+ years of in-field turbo machinery experience to create an unprecedented network of turnkey and machinery diagnostic services delivering protection monitoring for critical rotating machines. Now here's the juicy part: Besides services opportunities, the two companies have jointly created a new training course on turbomachinery diagnostics to be introduced by Emerson in 2007. Attendees will receive a copy of Fundamentals of Rotating Machinery Diagnostics written by vibration monitoring pioneer and rotordynamicist Donald E. Bently. Yes, that Bently. Now, couple this with the fact that Emerson's CSI division already completes with what used to be called Bently Nevada (before GE cut their branding off at the knees)...I'm wondering what Bently (sorry, GE-somethingorother) can do now that Emerson+RoMaDyn can't do? Lots of the political ads around here (and elsewhere) are ending "What is [insert name of evil politician] thinking?" I have to ask, "What is GE thinking?"
