This morning seven of us met as an ad-hoc working group to get Johann Nye's proposal we discussed on Monday for a security testing consortium or foundation off the blackboard and onto the street. Present were: Eric Byres, Wurldtech Analytics Joann Byres, Wurldtech Analytics Johann Nye, ExxonMobil Kevin Staggs, Honeywell Ted Angevaare, Shell Dan McDougall, Shell Walt Boyes, Control magazine We agreed to raise some money to hire Wurldtech Analytics (Eric and Joann Byres) to do the research and feasibility study for the foundation. Funds have been pledged by Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, Honeywell, Invensys, and others. Other startup grants ($2500 each, payable to Wurldtech Analytics) will be coming in over the next weeks. ISA has expressed some interest in assisting under the Automation Federation umbrella. There will be a detailed article in the August issue of Control by Eric Byres and Johann Nye detailing what the concept and deliverables of this organization will be. We'll have, hopefully by next week, a summary information sheet on the concept and if anyone is interested in also participating in the feasibility study funding, let me know, and we'll email you a copy of the summary (and, if you wish, an invoice for $2500).
