HAYWARD, Calif. and LIVERMORE, Calif. (April 23, 2007) Dust Networks, a provider of low-power wireless sensor networking (WSN) systems, and Novazone, a provider of clean technology solutions for food and water, have announced that Dust Networks has been selected as the WSN provider for Novazones ozone-based products. The first Novazone product to integrate Dusts network-ready SmartMesh products is the new PurFresh produce shipping solution.
Novazones PurFresh product is integrated into a shipping containers air flow system and uses ozone to reduce decay, improve quality and enhance safety of fresh produce shipped worldwide. With the system, ozone concentration levels are monitored and controlled via wireless plant-level communications based on Dust Networks WSN products. The Dust-enabled solution allows all containers to be monitored from a central location in a shipping yard, with no need for monitoring of individual containers. By using Dusts network-ready products, based on the companys Time Synchronized Mesh Protocol (TSMP), Novazone was able to bring PurFresh to market significantly faster than it would have with other solutions.
Dust Networks SmartMesh products couldnt have been faster or easier to install and configure, said David Cope, president and chief executive officer, Novazone, Inc. With other technologies, wed be looking at 12-18 months of development time, plus significant expense. Moreover, the high reliability and low cost of deployment associated with the Dust WSN solution are critical attributes of the PurFresh monitoring system.
Novazones PurFresh product is a great example of the increasing demand for wireless sensor networking and the broad adoption of our TSMP-based products in a wide range of industrial applications, said Joy Weiss, CEO of Dust Networks.
Dusts network-ready SmartMesh products provide a complete WSN solution made up of motes and managers that are proven, scalable and easy to integrate for fast time-to-market applications. All SmartMesh products utilize TSMP, pioneered by Dust Networks, which serves as the foundation for the industrys most reliable, low-power mesh architecture. Dust Networks TSMP-based products are optimized for enterprise-class applications in industrial and building settings, and meet the rigorous reliability and environmental specifications for harsh environments found in pharmaceutical facilities, oil refineries, oil and gas fields, power plants, and other industrial applications.
