"Co-location is an important element of our strategy to integrate all of the Reed Elsevier shows into Canon's existing platform of tradeshows servicing the $1 trillion advanced technology manufacturing sector," says Charles McCurdy, Canons chairman and CEO. "Co-location has been a key driver of Canon's growth strategy for a decade, and has created the four largest, annual design and manufacturing tradeshows in the country.
Canon adds its co-location strategy provides OEM buyers with access to mega-events in four geographical regionsthe West, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeastand it addresses industry concerns about flagging attendance and the proliferation of increasingly specialized tradeshows. Canon shows reportedly bring as many as 2,000 exhibitors and 50,000 design and manufacturing professionals together under one roof.
"Canon's decade-long commitment to co-locate allied advanced technology manufacturing shows, geographically positioned in the center of their served markets, is virtually unique in the exhibition industry, says Kevin O'Keefe, vice president of Canon's events division. With co-location of as many as six design and manufacturing events under one roof, exhibitors gain access to thousands of additional sales targets across multiple industries."
Already under development for three months, Canons co-location strategy will result in:
- The Assembly, Quality, and National Manufacturing Week shows will be co-located near Chicago in late September 2007. The combined exposition will occupy all 800,000 square feet in the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemount, Ill., making it one of the nation's largest design and manufacturing events. Its expected to attract 1,800 exhibiting companies and 50,000 attendees.
- The Powder & Bulk Solids Southeast and Advanced Manufacturing Exposition (AM Expo) will be co-located with the SouthPack, Automation Technology Expo (ATX), and Design and Manufacturing South shows in Atlanta on April 24-26, 2007, to create a 300,000-square-foot event with 800 exhibitors at the Georgia World Congress Center.
