Valmet receives fifth order for quality control system from Thai corrugator
Valmet Oyj reported June 28 that it’s supplying its Valmet IQ quality control system for corrugator software to Thai Containers Group's corrugated containers plant in Rayong, Thailand. The system will let the plant improve corrugated board quality and productivity, and reduce waste caused by warped board. The system is scheduled to be delivered in 4Q24 and start up in 1Q25.
Cooperation with Thai Containers started in 2020 with the successful implementation of Valmet IQ at the company’s Ratchaburi plant. After experiencing positive results, the Thai Container made repeat orders for its Navanakorn, Orient Container and Chonburi plants. This makes the present order for the Rayong plant the fifth one placed.
“We’re committed to helping our customer improve end-product quality and production efficiency. The customer wishes to produce flat sheet, while avoiding post-warp and cracking in converting,” says Thossapon Arunsaengsuree, Southeast Asia solution sales manager for automation systems at Valmet. “With Valmet’s quality management solutions, we can help them achieve set targets for the project and improve competitiveness.”
Valmet IQ quality control system for corrugator combines online moisture, temperature and warp measurements. It’s used to control all corrugated board types to reduce sheet warping, improve bonding, and maximize corrugated board box plant performance. The moisture level control of the final product plays an essential role in eliminating corrugated sheet post-warping and cracking during converting.
The delivery to the Rayong facility consists of Valmet IQ Warp Measurement, Valmet IQ Moisturizer with three spray booms, Valmet IQ Multipoint Moisture, temperature measurements and microwave moisture measurement, which are integrated via automatic closed-loop controls.
