Feb. 5, 2025

ABB reported Dec. 18 that it’s completed its acquisition of Aurora Motors, which was announced in November 2024. Financial terms were not disclosed. Aurora is a $4 million, U.S.-based, vertical-pump motor provider with engineering and operations in Shanghai, China, and a corporate office and distribution center in Hayward, Calif.

This acquisition is part of ABB Motion’s growth strategy. This will let its NEMA motors division enhance its products, expand its supply chain, and improve customer support.

The global NEMA motor industry, roughly $3.4 billion in size, comprises industrial electric motors mostly used in North America. NEMA motors are essential for running equipment in industries such as food and beverage, oil and gas, mining and aggregate, and water and wastewater.
