Schneider Electric announced Sept. 3 that it’s partnered with system integrator Baffy AG to halve commissioning time for dhp Technology AG’s Horizon retractable, solar roofs by integrating Schneider’s EcoStruxure Automation Expert (EAE) software.

dhp’s lightweight, modular, folding structures provide power for water treatment plants, logistics hubs and car parks. They also retract automatically during extreme weather conditions, such as hail or snow, ensuring resilience and long-term reliability.

Because EAE is software-defined automation that’s decoupled from hardware, it lets dhp  choose best-fit technology, regardless of vendor, and gain the flexibility to scale as needed. It also integrates seamlessly across industrial systems, increases choices, minimizes engineering complexity, and accelerates time to market.

“Our vision is empowering customers to achieve CO2 neutrality and energy independence, while making the most of limited space,” says Gian Andri Diem, CEO and co-founder of dhp Technology. “With EAE, we cut commissioning time by 50%, and streamlined formerly complex systems. Onsite technicians can manage automated, solar-roof systems independently, saving time and delivering superior value.”

Martin Baffy, owner of Baffy AG, explains, “When a controller memory issue arose, EAE’s plug-and-play technology enabled an effortless swap.”

In addition to EAE, dhp’s solar-roof automation integrates weather-station plugins via a Harmony P6 industrial PC and Modicon M262 dPAC controller.
