Yokogawa control and safety system complies with cybersecurity standards

Certifications include ISASecure SSA Level 1, CIS Benchmarks and OPC UA

Yokogawa Electric Corp. reported Apr. 8 that its integrated control and safety system, consisting of Centum VP production control and ProSafe-RS safety instrumentation, has achieved ISASecure System Security Assurance (SSA) Level 1 certification from the ISA Security Compliance Institute (ISCI). Centum VP and ProSafe-RS are part of Yokogawa’s OpreX control and safety system lineup. ISASecure SSA Level 1 certification is based on the IEC 62443-3-3 standard for control system security. Level 1 certification from ISCI confirms that Centum VP and ProSafe-RS meet IEC 62443-3-3’s security requirements, and that users can be confident in employing them.

In addition, Yokogawa’s IT Security Tools software for enhancing the security of system products has received CIS Benchmarks certification from the Center for Internet Security. IT Security Tools is a collection of security settings that harden Windows computers that run Centum VP, ProSafe-RS, and other Yokogawa system products. CIS Benchmarks Certification is a best practice for securely configuring systems. Certification of conformance with CIS Benchmarks confirms that IT Security Tools can reduce security risks by configuring security settings for system products, centering on Centum VP and ProSafe-RS components of Yokogawa’s integrated control and safety system.

Also, Yokogawa’s Exaopc OPC interface package has been certified as compliant with OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA), an international strategy for exchanging data between information and control systems established by the OPC Foundation. Complying with OPC UA means that Exaopc facilitates secure communications and mitigates cybersecurity risks.

"In 2025, Centum and ProSafe-RS celebrated their 50th and 20th anniversaries, respectively,” says Mitsuhiro Yamamoto, corporate officer and head of Yokogawa Electric’s Systems division. “Our company has evolved both products by adapting the latest technologies to meet customer needs. We’ll continue to contribute to the realization of safe and secure plant operations by providing secure products and systems."
