July 17, 2008
The “Strategize to Optimize” September conference also puts the spotlight on industry executives and their response to today’s workforce challenges

PAS is holding its third annual Users Conference on September 15-17 at South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center in Houston, Texas.

An industry panel consisting of executives from operating companies and leading automation suppliers will convene at the conference to participate in a rich and insightful discussion focusing on the #1 challenge for the process industries, "Knowledge Retention: Dealing with an Aging Workforce”.

In addition to an impressive line of customer presentations, Jim Pinto, noted automation industry pundit and author of “Automation Unplugged”, will also present the outlook for staffing, knowledge retention, and the role of software for deployment of sustainable optimization strategies.  Attendees will be further treated to a speech by “Engines of Our Ingenuity” Author and NPR radio blogger, Dr. John Lienhard.

This year’s conference theme, “Strategize to Optimize”, highlights the software solutions and vision PAS has for sustainable optimization within the process industries. Attendees will learn new perspectives and ideas on how their company can best prepare for success in the future.

Eddie Habibi, Founder & CEO of PAS, states, “This conference is not just about PAS products and services, but about how we can work with operating companies and other suppliers to set the direction for long-term success, even as staffing shortages are exacerbated by an increased number of retirees and an insufficient number of graduates.  We believe this conference will help all of us in the industry gain a renewed perspective and a sense of urgency to meet the challenges that have been widely discussed but never adequately addressed over the years.”

In addition to the conference, PAS is offering a broad-reaching Operations Effectiveness workshop on the day following the conference. This workshop focuses on an overall strategy for plant operations, and will cover how alarm management, control loop optimization, and HMI best practices fit into achieving long-term sustainable results. Early registration for the conference is $795 ($995 including the workshop) and ends on August 15th. To learn more about the PAS Users Conference 2008 or to register, please visit www.pas.com.
