The Smart Valve Positioner 700 Series detects abnormalities in shut-off, actuator spring and gland packing friction by measuring output pressure with a dedicated pressure sensor. It detects the Stick Slip movement of the control valve quantitatively using the Stick Slip diagnostic algorithm. (The Stick Slip is a valve's unstable state caused by excessive friction.)
