ABB reported Sept. 30 that it's been awarded a contract to improve asset integrity management (AIM) at MOL Group's four downstream (DS) refineries and chemical plants in Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia. The three-year project will implement standardized asset integrity procedures in a move to drive production efficiency, improve safety and reduce risk.
ABB and Metegrity's Visions program will integrate a common digital platform at MOL's Danube and Slovnaft petrochemicals plants and at its INA chemical unit. The new AIM solution from ABB will provide advanced asset risk analysis to reduce unplanned outages and maintenance costs. They estimated that controlling MOL's static equipment with AIM procedures, processes and systems will increase availability, reduce turnaround duration (TAR), improve production and save about €10 million per year across its downstream assets.
“Asset safety and reliability have the highest priority in MOL DS production," says Zsolt Huff, SVP downstream production at MOL Group. "To ensure continuous value creation and focus on the safety of our colleagues and communities around us, we're fully committed to executing and supporting group-level programs such as AIM. We have full trust in the professionalism and expertise of ABB’s technical delivery team, as well as on our own colleagues´ commitment to the successful delivery of the project,”
Zied Ouertani, global technology manager for chemicals and refining at ABB Energy Industries, adds, "Adopting AIM will increase efficiency and transparency, identify critical assets, and focus inspection and remediate risk with respect to safety and production. This will let MOL base asset integrity investments on current equipment conditions, and switch from reactive to proactive maintenance.”
