Dual-rated frequency motors have wide power range and premium efficiency

Sept. 3, 2025

Baldor-Reliance Global NEMA (GNEM) motors have 1-20 Hp (0.75-15 kW) power range, dual-rated 50/60 Hz frequency, and NEMA Premium efficiency (IE3). They’re optimized for variable-speed drive (VSD) applications, while their dual-frequency support and broad, tri-voltage range let them run seamlessly in many configurations without modifications.

GNEM motors supports NEMA frame sizes from 56 to 286T, covering broad system requirements. Available in rolled-steel or cast-iron frames, and with a choice of open drip proof (ODP) (IP22) or totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) (IP44) enclosures, they provide flexibility, reliability and long service life.

GNEM’s key features include:

  • Global compatibility—Designed to operate seamlessly on 50 Hz and 60 Hz power supplies, they support tri-voltage configurations (208-230/460V at 60 Hz and 190/380V at 50 Hz), ensuring adaptability across regions and power systems.
  • Wide power range—Available in power ratings from 1 to 20 hp, they cover NEMA frame sizes 56 through 286T to suit diverse applications.
  • Construction options—Offered in ODP and TEFC enclosures, they come in general-purpose or HVACR (shaft grounded) configurations, with cast-iron frames for demanding conditions.
  • Energy efficiency—Compliant with global, minimum-energy performance standards (MEPS) including IE3, they ensure energy savings, reduce operating costs, and achieve domestic and international environmental compliance.
  • Inverter ready—GNEM motors are designed for use with VSDs, while HVACR models are available with a factory-installed, shaft-grounding brush to help mitigate bearing currents and extend motor life during inverter-duty operations.
  • Certifications—CE, CSA and UL-recognized (UR) certifications support global acceptance, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
