Safety controller enables SIL2 designs
PACSystems RX3i CPS400 safety controller enables Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL2) strategies for infrastructure, fire and gas, burner management systems and other emergency shutdown systems. It’s compact, secure and scalable with 2,000 available I/O points for complex projects with evolving requirements, and has pre-built, certified blocks and templates to readily integrate with automation solutions.
RX3i CPS400 has 64 megabytes of memory, and a scalable, digital architecture that lets it support diverse applications. Using built-in protocols, including OPC UA, Ethernet Global Data (EGD), and Modbus TCP, it connects peer-to-peer and with higher-level hosts for operational visibility. This safety controller also incorporates Secure Boot and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) standard to provide data integrity and threat protection. Its safety-certified function blocks and pre-configured templates simplify system certification in accordance with the IEC 61511 standard.
Available in simplex or redundant controller configurations, RX3i CPS400 performs safety data messaging via duplex communications using the black-channel principle over EGD, which allows standardized and reliable connectivity with PACSystems VersaMax SafetyNet I/O system. This platform is IEC 61508 safety-certified, providing a capable, SIL2-simplified solution to help designers build appropriate protection schemes. RX3i CPS400 is configurable with familiar software tools used for PLCs, operator interfaces and other automation devices, such as Emerson’s PAC Machine Edition development environment.
