- Rotork has increased its range of flow control products and services for the worldwide marine and offshore industries with the acquisition of Italy-based Masso Ind s.p.a., which manufactures shipboard valve remote control systems (VRCSs).
- Endress+Hauser reports it filed for 259 patents in 2014, mainly in its core flow, level and analysis measurement technologies. These patent applications came from 337 submissions produced by different Endress+Hauser teams in different locations. More than 700 of its employees work in R&D.
- Siemens plans to build an open-cloud platform for analyzing large datasets, and provide a platform for data-based services such as Siemens offers for predictive maintenance, asset and energy data management. The new cloud platform will utilize the technologies of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.
- ABB has won an order worth $155 million from Norway’s Statoil to supply systems and equipment to two HVDC converter stations linking the recently discovered Johan Sverdrup offshore field with the onshore grid.
- Flowserve Cop. reports it's been selected to supply all ball-sector control valves, ball valves and butterfly valves for packaging papermaker Klabin's new Project Puma mill in Ortigueira, Paraná state in southern Brazil. Flowserve will provide more than 1,500 rotary control and automated on/off valves to the Klabin Puma Project, including products under the NAF, PMV, Atomac and Worcester brands.
- Functional safety certification provider for the process industries, exida has announced the establishment of its exida Japan division. "Functional safety and cybersecurity are becoming an important concern in the Japanese industry automation market,” says Kaoru Sonoda, exida Japan's managing director. “With this new office, exida can provide the necessary services for this increase in market demands."
- Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) will handle critical project management and engineering for a third oil and natural gas platform off the southern coast of Vietnam. Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. (HLJOC) will operate the TGT-H5 wellhead platform in the Te Giac Trang (TGT) fieldietnam. HPS served as the main contractor, and provided control and safety solutions for HLJOC’s two other TGT platforms.
- Yokogawa Saudi Arabia will supply DCSs for the PP13 and PP14 combined-cycle power plants that the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is building in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. PP13 and PP14 plants will each have a combined net electric output of 1,980 MW.
