Product roundup: Analyzers add abilities

Nov. 6, 2020
All types of process analyzers are packing more accuracy and detection functions into smaller spaces
Two for power industries

Two analyzers for power industry applications include CA76NA potentiometric analyzer that monitors water/steam circuit in power stations for concentrations of dissolved sodium ions, and indicates the presence of unwanted dissolved impurities that can cause corrosion, leaks and damage, while Liquiline System CA80SI colorimetric analyzer provides precise online analysis of silica to protect plant equipment from deposits, and ensures optimum performance of turbines and ion exchangers.

Half-price GC with 40% less footprint

Rosemount 700XA gas chromatograph (GC) is reported to be the first single-analyzer that measures sulfur compounds as well as energy content of natural gas. It has a micro flame photometric detector (FPD), which reduces equipment costs by as much as 50% and footprint requirements up to 40%. The field-mountable and transmitter-type configuration of the Rosemount 700XA makes it more flexible, allowing close-to-tap mounting. It's also Class 1, Division 1, explosion-proof and ATEX/IECEX safety-rated.

FT-IR for hydrocarbon streams

FTPA2000-HP260X series process Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) analyzers are designed for real-time, online process monitoring and control of gasoline and diesel fuel streams. They feature a multi-channel, fiber-optic FT-NIR analyzer in an Ex-certified enclosure, including user interface, data controller and I/O interface, industrial PC and touchscreen, and up to eight separate analysis channels with dedicated cells and detectors for each channel.

ABB

No sample extraction, conditioning

TDLS8100 analyzer requires only a single flange installation, and its in situ design removes the need for sample extraction and conditioning, allowing for near real-time gas analysis of O2, CO/CH4, NH3 and HCl. Onboard diagnostics with 50 days of historical trends and spectral data ensure issues are quickly identified. The modular design of the TDLS8100 allows for full field serviceability. Further, it requires no routine maintenance or calibration.

Yokogawa Corp. of America

Multi-parameter control for analytics

M800 is a multi-parameter transmitter with control for process analytics. It's available with EtherNet/IP and Profinet protocols. Available in process and water models, as well as one- or two-channel configurations, M800s accept pH/ORP, dissolved oxygen, dissolved CO2, conductivity, TOC or ozone sensors for maximum flexibility. With high-speed communications, the M800 adds process reliability and integrates real-time ISM sensor monitoring and predictive diagnostics at the control level through EtherNet/IP or Profinet.

Mettler Toledo

Thermal energy meter approved for Canada

Dynasonics UHC100 ultrasonic thermal energy meter is one of the first instruments to be approved by the Canada Weights and Measures standard for use in liquid heating and cooling applications in Canada. Thermal energy meters calculate energy quantities (gigajoules, kilo or megawatthours) by measuring liquid temperatures at the supply and return flow positions. UHC100 also has a pulse output for use with nominal flows of 0.6…10 m³/hour, its end-fitting options include ½, ¾, 1 and 1-½ in. NPT for ASME/ANSI pipes.

Badger Meter

Accurate leak detection

Flow Thermal Meter for gases (FTMg) is a multifunction, lightweight, compact, thermal flow sensor that measures and displays data about gas flows, process pressures and temperatures in one device. The FTMg can monitor the transformation of heat to determine flow rates of gas or air in a pipeline with a measurement accuracy of ±3% MV and ± 0.3% MEV. It can also monitor high measurement dynamics and low pressure losses, and its OLED color display shows measured values as a text and progress diagram.

Sick

Biogas analyzer in durable cabinet

Biogas analyzer features low maintenance, low operating costs and high reliability. The flexible unit can be adapted and customized to meet the needs of each installation with its polyester standard cabinet making it durable for outdoor installations. Applications include waste storage, upstream and downstream gas treatments, digesters and fermenters, and sewage treatment plants where energy, pressure, temperature, flow, net calorific value and gas analysis on biogas need to be monitored.

Fuji Electric

Real-time BTU analysis, gas speciation

FlarePro process mass spectrometer offers real-time BTU analysis and gas speciation in one, reliable, easy-to-use package for a range of flare gas applications. FlarePro speciates organics, and excels at measuring hydrogen, nitrogen, CO and CO2, making it an all-in-one analyzer that replaces gas chromatographs and discrete analytical devices. This is a field-proven system that users can depend on for flare BTU applications.

Ametek

Flexible, economical gas detection

TG5000 gas monitor uses XCell sensors with infrared or electrochemical technologies to detect leaking oxygen and combustible or toxic gases, such as CO2, CO, CL2, H2, H2S, NO2 and SO2. It's modular single- or dual-sensor mechanical design offers application flexibility and reduces wiring costs; organic LED (OLED), multilingual display and bright LED indicators show instrument status (power, fault or alarm), gas readings and Bluetooth connection; and touch-button interface provides tool-free, rapid access to all settings and functions.

MSA Safety Inc.

Measure free chlorine in hazardous areas

FCX80 free chlorine analyzer has a plumb-and-play design, economical reagent-less sensors, and it's FM/ATEX/IECEx approved for use in hazardous areas in water/wastewater processes and complies with U.S. EPA Method 334.0 for measuring drinking water. It's panel-mounted for monitoring freshwater samples for chlorine at 0.05 to 20 ppm in its standard range, or at 0.01-5.00 ppm with an optional low-range sensor. It operates at 0-50 °C (32-122 °F), and its response time is T90 in 2 minutes.
