ControlLogix 5590 pushes PLC performance further

Latest ControlLogix controller expands processing, memory, motion, networking, safety and cybersecurity capabilities for complex industrial applications

The ControlLogix 5590 controller from Rockwell Automation features high-performance processing and capacity up to 80 MB of memory to run larger, more complex applications without compromising speed or reliability. It supports up to 512 real and virtual motion axes, and has scale motion control across robotics, packaging and high-speed systems.

It handles 600+ Ethernet nodes per controller and connects more devices across a plant for streamlined data flow. Dual EtherNet/IP ports support linear and DLR topologies.

The unit minimizes the need for additional network modules and simplifies system design. It is ideal for complex motion, redundant systems and large-scale applications. In addition, it meets the demands of high availability and performance-critical environments.

Integrated Safety and Security SIL 2/PLd safety is built into every controller variant to simplify safety compliance and reduce hardware complexity. It supports SIL 3/PLe with safety partner and extends safety capabilities for more rigorous applications IEC 62443-4-2 compliant with CIP Security and secure boot. In addition, it helps protect operations with built-in cybersecurity aligned to global standards. Unified safety and process control in a single platform reduces engineering time and streamline system architecture.

The unit is optimized for modern industrial applications, as well as process and batch control. Integrated safety and redundancy support scalable PlantPAx systems.

Users can easily transition from ControlLogix 5570/5580 controllers with backward compatibility. Simplified, modernized and built for what’s next design efficiently using Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 38 or FactoryTalk Design Studio. Accelerate development with modern tools and collaborative workflows  and  deployment with FactoryTalk Logix Echo Simulate. Validate applications before deployment to reduce risk.

Enhanced hardware experience and built-in troubleshooting supports minimize downtime with intuitive diagnostics and support tools. It supports OPC UA and other modern protocols and enables seamless interoperability with third-party systems and platforms.
