FlexBatch 8 batch automation and recipe management software was originally developed for Valmet’s D3 distributed control system, and its latest version is integrated with its DNAe interface and D3.

The software simplifies batch processing, enables fast, safe, ISA-88-compliant operations, and lets users manage batch processes with intuitive, drag-and-drop tools that don’t require programming. Integrating FlexBatch 8 and DNAe gives users a web-based interface for batch operations. Operators can also monitor current and historical batch results with DNAe, further enabling real-time visibility and control.

FlexBatch 8 also retains several familiar features, such as the ability to draw up procedure charts using a drag-and-drop interface. This establishes phases and operations sequence that makes up unit recipes, which are combined to make up the master recipe. This means new recipes and even modifications don’t need programming, which lets users with appropriate privileges force transitions, schedule batches and equipment allocations, and view live recipe procedure charts for better batch execution awareness.

Other capabilities include manual step acknowledgment, an improved user interface and permissions, and simplified reuse of recipe components for faster development. Built-in campaign tools help maximize throughput and efficiency, while compliance features, such as full electronic recordkeeping, support ISA-88, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and ISPE GAMP-5 standards.
