Handheld communicator redesigned for faster access to more devices
AMS Trex device communicator has been redesigned with new hardware, software and security for easier, expanded and more intuitive use by field personnel. Added certifications and expanded connectivity let users employ it for calibration, streamlining workflows, and reducing how many tools they need to learn and take into the field. It also features eight times the memory of its predecessor, as well as a quad-core processor and a new operating system that will look and function similarly to modern mobile devices.
AMS Trex can connect to more than 2,500 field instruments from Emerson and third-party manufacturers, but the measurement tolerances of legacy versions were designed for reference instead of calibration, which required users to carry added devices. This is why the redesigned AMS Trex supports National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceability. Now, any measurements taken by AMS Trex are NIST certified to ensure that measurement and sourcing of current are accurate enough for calibration activities.
In addition, AMS Trex provides HART communication via Bluetooth, which enables an extended application library and connectivity to Bluetooth devices in the field, expanding its use cases for maintenance and reliability activities. New security features on the platform also eliminate risks the device or facility will be compromised by unauthorized software.
