Ethernet-APL products spring up like dandelions

May 21, 2025
Profibus Nutzerorganisation exhibits 14 different Ethernet-APL products at Hannover Fair 2025

Key highlights

  • The article highlights the growing availability of Ethernet-APL products, which counters the perception that the technology is still in its infancy.
  • By showcasing both existing and upcoming devices, process engineers gain visibility into what solutions are viable for near-term integration into their plants.

It might seem that not many Ethernet-APL products have arrived yet, but that idea was quickly refuted by the 14 different present, upcoming and prototype products showcased at the Profibus Nutzerorganisation’s (PNO) recent exhibit at Hannover Fair 2025.

Its booth featured five APL switches:

  • ELX 6233 remote I/O from Beckhoff that works like a switch
  • aplSwitch Field PA from Softing
  • FieldConnex APL rail field switch from Pepperl+Fuchs
  • APL field switch from Phoenix Contact
  • Ethernet-APL field switch from R. Stahl
