The Fieldbus Foundation and HART Communications foundation have now officially merged to form a new organisation to known as FieldComm Group. As no surprise with the recent announcement that Richard Timoney will retire at year-end, Ted Masters will be president and CEO of FieldComm Group while Mr. Timoney will serve as Executive Vice President. Hans-Georg Kumpfmueller of Siemens who led the FDI LLC team has been elected as the inaugural Chairman of the Board. The new combined single entity will officially begin operations January 1, 2015.
What I am curious to learn is what domain name they plan to use since www.fieldcomm.org is already owned by what is effectively a group of amateur radio operators based in central Virginia.
The official press release can be found at http://www.fieldbus.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1273&Itemid=281 and http://en.hartcomm.org/main_article/fieldcommgrp.html for the Fieldbus FOundation and HART Communications Foundation respectively.
