The Fieldbus Foundation announced it has reached the milestone of 1,000 registered devices. The foundation's rigorous program ensures registered fieldbus devices deliver all the benefits of the FOUNDATION protocol and are fully interoperable with other registered devices on the same fieldbus control network.
The number of FOUNDATION fieldbus products registered by the Fieldbus Foundation continues to grow. The foundation is one of the few automation industry organizations with a registration program requiring mandatory testing of critical elements of its technology. The effort encompasses FOUNDATION fieldbus host systems and field devices and physical layer components such as power supplies and device couplers from all segments of the automation market.
Within the Fieldbus Foundation's automation infrastructure, interoperability is made possible by the fact that devices and software must conform to the same standard. Products bearing the FOUNDATION Product Registration symbol have undergone a series of common tests audited by the Fieldbus Foundation. End users can select the best device for a specific measurement or control task, regardless of the manufacturer.
