Space-saving, angled, midmount connectors for centric PCBs
THR M12-A, angled, panel-mount connectors for centric printed circuit board (PCB) mounting receive the circuit board at its edge and sit flush with it, rather than on top. This means the connector and the board no longer add up in height, which is an advantage where circuit boards and other electronics must fit into slim, cylindrical spaces, such as sensors with tubular housings. The mounting is designed for 1-2 mm PCB thicknesses. This design is typically used wherever limited installation space meets a standardized M12 interface, including:
- Level, distance, and pressure sensors,
- Light barriers and position switches,
- Measuring transducers in cylindrical housings, and
- Fieldbus and peripheral devices with tight installation spaces.
THR is also reflow-solderable, and can be processed on binder’s existing SMT line without separate soldering or any other special steps. Its integrated pickup surface makes the component graspable for pick-and-place machines, so it can run through the line together with the rest of the assembly.
THR’s primary feature include:
- Angled, front-mounted, centric PCB mounting (midmount) design;
- M12 A-coded per DIN EN 61076-2-101, four- and five-pin interface;
- Shielded or unshielded variants, with or without O-ring;
- IP68 protection rating when mated and locked
- 60 V rated voltage, and 1,500 V rated impulse withstand voltage;
- -40 °C to 85 °C ambient temperature service for more than 100 mating cycles; and
- Gold-plated contacts and LCP per UL 94 V-0 contact body.
