Weidmüller Group reported Aug. 5 that its Snap In technology set an official Guiness World Record, and created a new record title for fastest time to connect 500 terminal blocks into one chain by a team. 

A team at its global headquarters in Detmold, Germany, used the connection solution Weidmüller invented to wire 500 terminal blocks with 1,000 connection points in a verified 2 minutes and 55 seconds. The team included employees from its development, product management and other specialist departments that were directly involved in developing its Snap In technology.

The record-setting attempt took place during a celebration marking Weidmüller Group’s 175th anniversary. It was overseen by official Guiness World Records adjudicator Lena Kuhlmann, who evaluates and certifies record attempts worldwide. She monitored compliance with all requirements and officially confirmed the result.

“This record category was defined for the first time for this attempt, and it was successfully completed,” says Kuhlmann. “The team fulfilled the requirements with precision, and set an officially recognized record. What’s particularly remarkable is that the task was accomplished by the very people who developed and implemented this technology.”

The company reports that Snap In represents a new generation of electrical connection technology. It enables direct, tool-free connection of conductors without requiring additional action from a clamping mechanism, resulting in fast, safe and convenient wiring processes. The connection is confirmed visually by its green pusher popping out and audibly by a clear clicking sound.
